Another step towards making it easier to meet up with fellow tikiphiles: you can now reply to someone’s upcoming visit in Critiki!
I rolled out the Upcoming Visits feature to Critiki a few weeks ago, and it’s been a big hit. I’ve been gradually adding new enhancements to make this new meetup functionality more effective—for instance, you can be notified when someone is planning a visit to your local tiki bar. Being able to actually coordinate meetups is a BIGGIE, so this addition of replies is a huge leap forward. There’s still more to do: you don’t yet get a notification when someone has replied to your upcoming visit, so you have to come back to Critiki to check, which is a bit silly. But one step at a time!
Click “Reply” at the bottom of an upcoming visit, or if there are already replies, click the reply count, and you’ll be able to see the existing replies and add your own. You’ll need to be signed in, of course.
And my timing was good: it just so happens that Critiki member BoolooBrenda is planning a visit to Pagan Idol next Monday at 4pm. Perfect! I work just a couple blocks from Pagan Idol, so it’ll be easy for me to join her for a drink on my way home from work. And now she knows to expect me!
(Another use: now I don’t have to just cheer internally when I see someone add their upcoming first time visit to some amazing spot like Tiki-Ti or the Mai-Kai, I get to reply to them right on Critiki and say “HOORAY, have the best danged time!”)
